Brian Whempner is the founder of Gold Coast Cowboys and a country swing dancer, instructor, and community builder dedicated to creating spaces where people can learn, connect, and thrive through dance.
After discovering country swing in San Diego in 2022, Brian quickly fell in love with the dance and the community surrounding it. What started as a personal passion grew into a mission to help build something bigger—leading to the creation of Gold Coast Cowboys in 2024.
Brian began teaching in 2025 and has continued to grow both as an instructor and dancer while helping develop the next generation of country swing dancers. His approach to dance centers around strong fundamentals, musicality, connection, and creating an environment where dancers of every level feel encouraged to learn and grow.
As Founder and Event Director, Brian oversees the vision, growth, and execution of Gold Coast Cowboys and its events. Through GCC, he hopes to contribute to the continued growth of the country dance community by bringing people together, creating memorable experiences, and building a culture where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive together.
CJ Brookshire is the media lead behind Gold Coast Cowboys, bringing every event to life through photography, content, and storytelling.
A dance event photographer by trade, CJ runs Edit in Motion, capturing competitors, socials, and behind-the-scenes moments across the country and West Coast Swing dance circuit. That same eye for detail, the connection between partners, the energy of a floor, the moment a routine lands, shapes how Gold Coast Cowboys presents itself online and in person.
Beyond the camera, CJ is embedded in the dance community as a competitor and creative, always looking for ways to give dancers a better experience both on and off the floor.
As Media Lead, CJ oversees the visual identity, content, and promotion for every Gold Coast Cowboys event, making sure the energy of the weekend translates long after the last dance.
